Heraldic banner of Cardinal Wolsey


A heraldic banner, or banner of arms, is usually square and displays only the basic coat of arms. This means that it does not include the helmet or coronet, crest, supporters, mantling, motto, or a variety of other things that could be found on a full coat of arms. The banner only displays those basic items that would be found on a shield.
