What's So Great About Popup
Displays
The most popular things today
when it comes to low priced trade show and event displays is Pop-up
displays.
Rather than using a booth, a Pop-up display gives you a backdrop or
background that can help you highlight your product or service.
Most Pop-up displays will have two or three main components, with the
added flexibility of some optional accessories. The folding frame, which
is usually constructed using either fiberglass or aluminum tubes, is the
largest part of your Pop-up display. Once your frame is assembled you
can hang your printed display panels. The displays panels are usually
made from either Velcro-ready fabric or Duralex, which is a lexan panel
that has been printed. Most often high resolution large format printing
is used to produce the images on the panels.
The unfolded frame is typically in a unit of about 8” square by 30" wide
prior to being “popped” up. Once the frame is popped open it will
measure approximately 8 – 10 feet wide and 8 feet high. The frame is
lightweight, normally weighing only about 15 pounds, but strong enough
to not require any additional external support or anchoring. You can
look at the links on this page to get more specific information about
sizing specifications.
The fabric or graphics panels that are hung on the frame are normally
about 30” wide by 8’ high. Most frames will require about four or five
panels, with additional end panels (or end caps) to wrap around the
frame ends for a cleaner appearance. The panels are easy to carry as
they roll up into a lightweight carrying case. The panels are adhered to
the frame with either Velcro or magnetic strips which have been placed
on the backs of the panel and on the skeleton of the frame. The frame
becomes even more stable after the graphics panels have been installed.
Once the duralex graphics panels have been applied to your frame your
display is ready to go. When fabric is used instead of duralex panels,
there are usually extra graphics that are adhered to the fabric panels
using Velcro after the fabric is affixed to the frame. The additional
graphics used with fabric panels can be created from a variety of
materials, including duralex, flexible vinyl, or posters printed on
paper and then laminated for extra strength and durability.
Most displays will then add one or two halogen lights to the top of the
frame to highlight specific areas of their display.
You can pack the entire display, including frame, graphics panels, and
lights, into a lightweight carrying case that comes with wheels. Some
people choose to order an optional special top and wrap around graphics
to adhere to the carrying case so that it can double as a podium or
display counter.
While the measurements and weight will depending on the options and
materials you use, the average Pop-up display case for a 8’ or 10’
display will only weight about 40 pounds and fit easily into either the
truck or back seat of your car. Most people will have no problem moving
this display between locations.
It will take the average person about 20 minutes to completely assemble
the typical Pop-up display. A step ladder or regular chair may be needed
for people who are particularly short.
A banner stand or jiffy roll may be a good idea for those that feel that
a Pop-up display is either too large for their needs or would be
impractical for any reason. These display alternatives usually only take
about one to two minutes to assemble and can be easily carried by one
person in a small carrying case over their shoulder.
