Finding Suitable Vinyl for Custom
Vinyl Banners
There are two main types of
vinyl available for most commercial applications.
When you go to a special event or promotion chances are you will see
custom vinyl banners advertising a variety of products and brands. Vinyl
banners are inexpensive, durable, and flexible, which has made them the
material of choice for advertising since the middle of last century.
Vinyl continues to be the top choice for sign and banner printing, as
new innovations have mad vinyl even easier to use.
Prior to printing, vinyl undergoes a series of processes. This
processing helps to give vinyl some of its best qualities, shape memory,
elasticity, and tensile strength, to name a few. Producers of vinyl
graphics first determine what processes the vinyl has been through. This
aids them in choosing the perfect application for that particular vinyl.
There are two main types of vinyl available for most commercial
applications. The first type of vinyl is molded into thin sheets of
fabric after being melted from a solid mass. This type is best used in
signs, banners, and wall installations because of its great strength.
The second type of vinyl is more suited for applications such as vehicle
wrapping. It begins as a liquid and is then molded into sheets. This
fabric has a different memory quality which works better around the
curves and corners of a car. A seamless car wrap is dependant on the
vinyl clinging firmly to all the dips and curves of the vehicle, so this
vinyl is a perfect choice.
